This salsa recipe is all you need for a variety of dishes! It is from an actual traditional Mexican Restaurant! The salsa recipe is perfect for chips and salsa, chilaquiles, huevos rancheros, etc. You can control how spicy you want it. If you want it spicy keep the jalapeño seeds.
Ingredients:
4 Roma tomatoes
4 jalapeños
1/2 minced white onion
2 tbsp butter
Directions:
Cut stem off jalapeños and remove seeds. If you like your salsa spicy leave seeds or part of the seeds for mild spice.
Boil tomatoes and jalapeños until the skin peels from the tomatoes.
While tomatoes and jalapeños boil, in a saucepan melt butter a bit ( don’t let it burn) add onion until onion is partly caramelized. Stove should be at a medium temperature.
While onion is caramelizing, blend tomatoes and jalapeños. Add about 1 cup of water that was left from the tomatoes and jalapeños boiling.
Add blended tomatoes and jalapeños to pan with caramelized onions and cook for about 5 minutes on medium temperature. Add salt to taste. Voila!!! Enjoy!!!
This salsa recipe can be vegan by using a vegan butter. It is definitely gluten-free and healthy overall.
