INGREDIENTS:
1cup almond flour
1.5 tbsp maple syrup grade B or grade A ( pure maple syrup)
pinch of salt ( I usually use Himalayan salt or sea salt)
2.5 tbsps melted coconut oil
DIRECTIONS:
1. Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees F. Place all ingredients in a bowl and a mix well with your hand or a spoon.
2. Form the mixture into approximately eight equal size balls.
3. Layer parchment paper on a baking pan and put mixture balls in pan.
4. Gently press top of the cookie with a fork’s flat side about a 1/4 of the way down.
5. Place in oven for about 12 to 15 minutes. Remember all ovens are created differently so check them at 10 minutes just to make sure they don’t overcook. Check for edges to turn golden brown. The center will look a bit more on the pale side.
6. Let them cool about 15 minutes.
If you want these a little sweeter, you can double the maple syrup in the recipe.
I promise you will love these healthy cookies and you will love the fact that they are not loaded with processed ingredients and refined sugars that make you feel horrible after.
Did you know that maple syrup is a healthier alternative to table sugar? Maple syrup contains about 67 different polyphenols and has antioxidant properties. There was a study done which substituted refined sugar with maple syrup, and the report shows a decrease in blood pressure and reduction in belly fat. Now this doesn’t mean you can consume large amounts of maple syrup every day, but if you are going to have something sweet opt for a healthier option that’s beneficial for your health. Your body will thank you.
