Best Healthy Snacks
1. Mixed Nuts
Mixed nuts are perfect for healthy snacks on the go! They have a balance of protein, healthy fats and fiber. They will keep you satisfied until your next meal. Now just make sure to portion your servings because your they are high in calories. I myself am notorious for eating nuts after I’m satisfied, so I understand you. Just put some in ziplock bags at the beginning of the week and they are ready to grab and go!
My first choice is always raw nuts. They are in a purer form. They conserve more antioxidants and vitamin E. They contain more fiber and less sodium than roasted nuts. They have less calories and less fat per gram.
Roasted nuts are overall more flavorful and easier to digest for many. When they are roasted they lose water and fat content increases, so just watch your overall fat content to meet your daily fat intake. They have a higher sodium content than raw nuts.

2. Greek yogurt and Berries
Greek yogurt is excellently filled with protein and antioxidants. With your Greek yogurt make sure you choose a plain yogurt which ever you decide to buy. Add any berry or combination of berries. Try to stay away from adding sweetener. But if necessary add something like stevia or local honey. The less sugar you consume the better.
3. Apple and Peanut butter
Talk about yummy combo for fiber and healthy fats. Apples are rich in fiber and antioxidants. Peanut butter has healthy fats and protein, Now beware on the peanut butter you buy. You should only see peanuts or peanuts and salt in the ingredients.
4. Celery and Hummus
Celery and hummus or cucumber and hummus are so hydrating and delicious. It is said that chewing and digesting celery burns more calories than the celery you consume. I don’t know if that’s true or not, but I would like to think it’s true, LOL. Hummus has fiber, protein and is high in antioxidants. Celery and cucumber reduce inflammation and improve digestion.
5. Nori Chips
Who loves sushi???? If you do you probably love the nori (seaweed black wrapping holding your sushi together) If you love chips you might fall in love with this! Nori can contain up to 10 times more calcium than milk, antioxidants, may reduce inflammation and has fiber. You can buy it ready to go or make it. Super easy to make this healthy snack for adults. I think adults would love this more than kids but IDK try it out on your kids. Let me know if they like it. To make it just buy the nori sheets put in oven at about 300 degrees for 3-5 minutes. When you can break off a piece it’s ready!. Drizzle olive oil and add some salt…voila! Most seaweed contains high levels of iodine. So just everything in life, it’s about balance.
6. Edamame
Edamame is a plant based protein, rich in fiber and helps with inflammation. Steamed edamame with some sea salt is the best way to consume it. Just pop it in your mouth and enjoy.
